Ali Rankin is our specialised corporate massage therapist and is available to work with our City Haven Massage Therapy coporate clients. Our clients have literally been 'wowed' by Ali's amazing workplace massages.
Before re-training in massage in 2011 Ali used to be a counsellor, so has been involved in the art of healing for over 10 years in one way or another. Ali is trained in a number of massage modalities and can offer a variety of therapies which utilise both eastern and western treatment principles. These include Shiatsu, Cupping, Gua Sha, Moxibustion, Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue and Aromatherapy. She excels in all that she undertakes, having graduated with an Academic Excellence Award and Senior Scholar Award from the Bachelor of Social Practice, a Highest Academic Achievement Award from Certificate IV Massage and the Dux of the School Award from the Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies, which is the highest achievement for both academic attainment and clinical practice. She holds a Senior First Aid Certificate and is a member of the Australian Natural Therapists' Association, the Shiatsu Therapy Association of Australia the Australian National Register of Accredited Natural Therapists and The Complementary Medicine Practitioners Association Council.
Although Ali loves all forms of massage she has a passion for Shiatsu, which is based on the same principles as acupuncture and is often called 'acupuncture without needles'. It is kind of like massage, acupuncture and reiki all rolled into one. As well as working at a physical level on the muscles and soft tissue it also works on the energy or qi which flows through a network of meridians in the body, so it's a very holistic treatment that addresses imbalances on many different levels. Shiatsu lends itself very well to corporate massage, as it is always performed fully clothed, and Ali extended her work into the corporate massage industry around three years ago. She enjoys the challenge of bringing people relief from both mental stress and physical discomfort in a very limited amount of time and, despite being an obvious advocate for the many benefits of regular massage, she has been amazed at what an enormous difference just a fortnightly fifteen minute massage can make.
Ali’s other passions are food and travel. Since studying Shi Liao (food therapy), as part of her Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies, she has developed a great interest in the medicinal properties of every day foods and spices and truly believes that food is medicine.
